Carpe Momentum: The Climate Crisis Won’t Be Fixed, It Will Be Exploited

Why system change, not restoration of the status quo, is our only hope for survival

In this video, I’m reading an essay by Mary Geddry, a powerful and urgent piece about the true nature of the climate crisis. Rather than treating climate collapse as a technical problem that can be fixed with a few green upgrades, this essay argues that the crisis is the direct outcome of our current economic and political system—a system built on extraction, inequality, and corporate power.

Mary Geddry exposes how financial institutions, political leaders, and billionaire technologists are preparing not to prevent climate breakdown, but to profit from it. She illustrates how the ruling class treats collapse as an opportunity, while ordinary people bear the consequences. The essay makes clear that superficial reforms and greenwashed solutions will not save us; only systemic, justice-centered transformation can.

Please subscribe for more of Mary’s work, where she continues to examine the intersection of climate, politics, and power.
