I hadn't thought about this, but it makes perfect sense. I wasn't aware the presidential bunker was under the East Wing.

Well now I'm thoroughly freaked out. He's planning on atomic warfare and hopes his fat ass will be saved from the radiation down there in that fancy bunker. Good Lord!!!! I'm feeling like I did after reading that book Hiroshima. Traumatized! Growing up next to Ft. Bliss TX, Biggs Air Force Base and White Sands, NM, we were in the fallout zone from all the atomic bomb testing. I think my older brothers (15 & 20 yrs older than me) who each died from weird cancers were affected by the nearby testing. And the thought of him sitting on his golden bunker throne while the rest of us get bombed and burned up is just too much. AAARRRGGG!!! I think I need some bourbon.

Good premise, Mary as I have been wandering through what seems to me to be a “prewar” set of steps to militarily take over one or more of our southern neighbors. He’s flat stated he’s not averse to killing, presented himself in crown as a “jet jockey.” A grand plan, perhaps. Keep writing..it keeps me believing I’m not lost in conspiracy theory so deeply!🥴

It really does add up and connects all the dots. I’d like to see him try to run the country in his gilded concrete bunker while the rest of the country carries on once he is voted out of office. And maybe the bulldozer would be called back into service to put the East Wing back like it was for First Ladies. His bunker could serve as his gilded jail if he is made to atone for his crimes.

I hope he’s not discretely including Putin in the planning.

I've been hearing this - as a theory. It would be interesting to find out from one of the on-site construction people exactly how deep they're digging. I've also read that the oligarchs (Bezos, Thiel, Zuckerberg, et al.) have luxurious bunkers. Are they preparing for an apocalyptic event, or just paranoid? What I'm thinking is, if he wanted to be on the big team, Trump could just as well have built it at Mar-a-Lago. Unless maybe his generous "friends" wouldn't have been willing to donate...

Maybe mar a lago’s underground water level does not permit a bunker…it is next to a deep water way & perhaps on sandy soil.

The bunker should include a McDonalds and a KFC for that price!

This makes perfect sense to me. And true to form for him and his minions.

Can his bunker, once the ballroom is bladed off, be completely covered in a dense concrete that cuts off all air, water, destroys mini golf range?

Makes me think about the last episode of The Diplomat, where it is revealed that the new President and her VP have secretly stolen a nuclear device. I believe that there is some kind of underground facility under a mountain ( I think it is in Maryland not far from Camp David) where a President can be taken in case of nuclear war too.

Apparently trump HATES Camp David (no gold leaf or chandeliers).

I was small when bunkers were being built, it was ‘the in-thing todo’. Apocalypse movie, books, theories sell. Us hippies fantasized about a utopian world, where all lived raised a step above any , there were no ‘lessers’ everyone was well cared for.

Even in the store the other day a man in a wheelchair said ,”the world is coming to an end” I some what in humor corrected him, “the world will survive the bugs, animals, will take over ..not mankind”.

The irony is ‘mankind’ really did mean woman and children too. Originalists want to clarify..points of manipulation ..the forefathers intended just man ..men… the world folks will survive , return to clean waters everyone , thick stands of trees few remaining ‘old growth’ until 2-300 years from now. Will the bunkerites survive the scorched earth? Will the lesson then be evident?

Even today’s Heather’s questions are on point.

I so remember the sight in Planet of the Apes as Heston rounded the corner and the Statue of Liberty’s pieces stuck out of the sand on the ocean’s edge.

It sounds perfectly valid to me, Mary! And because it sounds perfectly valid as I sit here weighing the possibilities, I am struck with such anger and fear of this little man and his administration. Surely there are some Republican congressmen who have figured this out and know they will not be invited in if an emergency occurs. One would think that would be reason to abandon ship.
