The thing about your initial post about Ezra needing a diagnostic test and your family needing to move, is that it seemed, for me at least, to provide an opportunity for us to help at a time when everything seems so bleak and uncertain, that hope isn't even a flicker anymore. And then a whole lot of us got involved because you gave us a reason to make a tangible difference when we're often helpless and frustrated. Donate resources = Ezra gets an MRI and the Hurts get a mortgage. And for second, the ship righted itself, we recognized our better angels in each other, we realized that maybe there are more of us than we thought and Hope shined a bit brighter. So thanks for that and for telling us about Jake and Tom, your brother, the folks saving the turtles and the eaglets. I think we're going to be alright.

A moving tribute to the better angels of our nature. You are so correct: The taking his loving dog to a safer place broke my heart. The inborn nature of Homo sapiens is to care for & to cooperate with each other. That’s how we were for 95% of our 300,000 years of existence. We lost that when we shifted from hunter-gatherers to farming. See my original post for a more complete description.

Such a kind heart you have. So happy that thoughtful, caring people have responded in such a positive way when you needed help. I appreciate what is important to you, and I applaud your talent in telling it.

This piece is so deeply, wonderfully descriptive and enriching that my heart is full and running over. I am so very glad the pieces of love we gave resulted in your keeping your home. Thanks so much for telling us, and for the life saving pieces you write.

Thank you for reminding me that I need to make that donation to help save Jackie and Shadow's neighborhood! They only have until July's end to collect another $6,884,810.00. Such a lot of money in such a short time! Today they will be my Tom and Jake and I will give all I can because they are deserving too. If anyone you know cares, go to https://savemooncamp.org/ and help the kids and their cause by saving the eagles' neighborhood and home. The babies are big now but still young enough to view at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4-L2nfGcuE

You've reminded me and inspired me, Barb, to get on board for Jackie and Shadow. I'm now watching what I've been missing and will donate for sure! I care! Thank you!

You passed your appraisal ... I'm so happy to hear that! We sent our heartfelt donations because we sensed we knew you, felt your heart and spirit thru your writing, and wanted your family to remain in your much-loved and memory-filled home. Home is where the heart is, right? But you have totally done your part, too. You're raising a family, looking after Ezra's health concern, doing meals and laundry, being a wife, worrying and multi-tasking like Mom's do, writing your essays for us (and I love where you've taken that) AND doing all the hard work that it took to pass the appraisal. I hoped you'd share updates and reading that you're over the last hurdle is awesome!! Love the story about Tom and Jake ... those two provided support and companionship for each other as well and as long as they could and then opened themselves (like you) to allowing others to fill the gap that remained. Sharing that your brother is home and finds his way with a dog to help ease the personal struggles that he faces. These are the connections that enable us to feel safer when the times are difficult and inspire us to give what we can in various ways in order to help others when needed. If we participate, these connections and sharing may not be tit for tat but over a lifetime they tend to be reciprocal. Bless Your Home Sweet Home!!!
