Two lessons, both mostly well understood by people who operate at a professional level. 1: Amateurs plan tactics, professionals plan logistics. 2: Civilian control of the military is essential, but it is equally essential that the civilians know what they want to achieve and listen to professional advice on how to achieve it. Too bad these lessons have to be relearned so often.

There is no winning strategy of appeasing an 80 year old sadist and megalomaniac for whom nothing is true but what his mind improvises in the moment. Have the G-7 leaders not learned this? Every kiss on Trump’s ring is another nail in the coffins of truth, decency and sane policy.

A signals corporal commands the German Army in a continental war, but mistakes front line combined arms support for strategic attack in depth. In addition, he confused ideology and people, and squandered resources in killing millions of people peripheral to military victory. He was, after all, a signals corporal. In the end, he is defeated by material conditions brought on by strategic failure. A real estate developer commands the US Army in a religious war, but mistakes property destruction for ideological attack in depth. In addition, he confused ideology and people, and thus squandered resources in destroying property, thinking that property was dear enough to people (as it is to a developer) that they would change ideology to protect it. In the end, he is defeated by ideological conditions brought on by strategic failure, which are being called material conditions in the West. Even the peace plan appears to be a plan for property development, which is, called it what you will, gentrification or colonization, whatever term you use, still deep in the strategic failure. The error is being compounded. This tale is nowhere near over yet.

Thank you, Mary. Like, "This is what superior force looks like in the hands of people who mistake the performance of victory for the achievement of it."

Bottom line? We are worse off than we were when trump tore up the agreement already in place, and worse off still than when he started this God forsaken war; however, he will never admit that.

The JCPOA was not bombed into existence. It was hard-fought diplomacy that created it. Something our present "leader" is incapable of.
