A Small Cup for a Kakistrophic Age
Our new mug is here, inspired by one of Mary’s most necessary words; for when “catastrophic” simply lacks the civic imagination.
We know a mug isn’t going to save democracy.
But neither is drinking coffee out of something ugly, joyless, or insufficiently alarmed by the state of things. And so, in the spirit of doing what we can with what we have, we made a mug.
It’s part of The Kakistrophic Collection, inspired by Mary’s very useful, very necessary word: kakistrophic; for when “catastrophic” just isn’t carrying enough civic dread.
This is a mug for readers, resisters, note-takers, morning-news-survivors, and everyone who has ever stared into their coffee and whispered, “you have got to be kidding me,” before getting up and doing the work anyway.
